Secrets to successful dog training

 Dog Training Secrets

Dog training really is nothing more than tricks, your dog's name is a conditioned response, sit, down, stays are the same, all tricksl just as is getting your dog to give you his paw. Have you ever heard of pavlovs dog theory? he trained a dog to salivate at the sound of a bell ringing, how? simple; with tricks. Everytime he fed the dog he rang a bell, then enough repititions of this cue the drooling fido awaiting his dinner.

All these things in my opinion mean nothing if you do not have the number 1 key in dog training-a relationship with your dog. Building a relationship with your dog should be at the forefront of any dog training programme. Having a relationship to most people is saying oh he loves me, he is my soul mate, he is my best friend, but all of these are human emotions, what your dog really values is who you are and what you do for your house hold!

Dog training can very easily be a success or failure down to the dog respecting you and having a relationship with you. If you are training your dog he is going to need to want to please you and do as you ask. Wanting to please is just what dogs do but you will be surprised how many owners can not get their dogs attention even with a piece of liver (an extremely high value piece of food) As an example, many owners struggle with recall, why? simple, something more interesting has their attention, and this doesn't even have to be another dog, rabbit or even a cat, it could simply be a smell on the ground.

As you move into your new regime or dog training class with your dog have a think about how your dog sees the relationship, if it isn't the relationship you thought, simply work on changing it. How would you get to know someone you have never met, better? well firstly spend time with them, try going away for a few days just the 2 of you, I can say first hand this worked for me with Takoda. Have a think about what else your dog values highly in his life and do more of it with him.
